Peruvian particleboard imports fall slightly in 11M-2019

PERU – In the January – November 2019 period (11M-2019), Peruvian imports of Particleboard / MDP (PB / MDP) amounted to USD 92.92 million, which represented a slight drop of 1.3 percent compared to the same period of 2018 (11M-2018: USD 94.17 million).

865PERU With a solid growth of 15.4 percent and USD 41.46 million (11M-2018: USD 35.01 million), Ecuador stood out in the first eleven months of 2019 as the main supplier country of PB / MDP to the important Peruvian market. Chile, despite a sharp drop in its shipments to Peru (-27.6 percent) in the first eleven months of 2019, maintained its position as the second supplier country of PB / MDP to Peru with shipments for USD 20.64 million (11M- 2018: USD 28.53 million). Spain with USD 15.64 million (11M-2018: USD 14.49 million) was the third supplying country in the period. And with a 4.0 percent decrease, Brazil was the fourth supplier country, reaching USD 13.47 million (11M-2018: USD 14.02 million).

The main importing company in 11M-2019 was once again Novopan Peru with USD 41.19 million (11M-2018: USD 35.01 million). This represented a significant increase of 17.7 percent and a 44.3 percent share of the country’s total PB / MDP imports in the period. This is equivalent to an increase of 7.2 percentage points compared to 11M-2018 (37.2 percent share).

The second main importing company was Representaciones Martín with USD 14.34 million, a growth of 3.8 percent and a 15.4 percent share of the total value imported in the period (11M-2018: 14.7 percent share).

Maderas América was the importing company with the highest growth (77.7 percent) in the period, from USD 2.82 million registered in 11M-2018 to USD 5.02 million in 11M-2019.
