Slight Drop in Peruvian Particleboard Imports in 10M-2024

PERU – Peru’s particleboard/MDP imports from January to October 2024 (10M-2024) saw a modest overall decline of 2.6%, with total imports falling from USD 121.01 million in 10M-2023 to USD 117.92 million in 10M-2024.

Among the countries of origin, Ecuador experienced a 6.2% drop, declining from USD 61.24 million to USD 57.44 million. On the other hand, Spain and Brazil recorded positive growths, with imports from Spain rising by 15.9% from USD 25.90 million to USD 30.00 million, and Brazil seeing a 10.4% increase from USD 14.17 million to USD 15.64 million.

Looking at individual importers, the largest, Novopan Peru, saw a 6.5% decrease in imports, dropping from USD 60.21 million in 2023 to USD 56.28 million in 2024. Arauco Peru also faced a significant decline, with imports falling by 22.6%.

In contrast, Inversiones Jocema achieved an extraordinary growth rate of 495.2%, surging from just USD 1.18 million to USD 7.05 million. Grupo Yofasa also reported a strong performance, with its imports rising by 156.3%, from USD 719,412 to USD 1.84 million.

The data highlights significant fluctuations in the market, with some importers and countries facing declines, particularly Chile, which saw a sharp 28.2% drop.
