Sharp Decline in Brazilian Particleboard Exports in 2023

BRAZIL – The value of Brazilian particleboard (PB/MDP) exports in 2023 reached USD 80.74 million, marking a substantial drop of 25.9% compared to the USD 108.94 million exported in the previous year.

1068BRASIL In 2023, Brazilian exports of PB/MDP to China, totaling USD 18.27 million, experienced a significant decrease of 45.4% (2022: USD 33.48 million). Despite this decline, China retained its position as the primary export market for Brazilian particleboard in the year.

Peru, the second-most important export market for Brazilian PB/MDP in 2023, witnessed a 26.9% decrease, with shipments totaling USD 16.94 million, compared to USD 23.17 million in 2022.

Bolivia bettered Colombia and was the third foreign market for Brazilian particleboard in 2023, with purchases of USD 15.28 million, showing a slight increase of 0.6% compared to 2022 (USD 15.18 million).

In 2023, Rio Grande Do Sul surpassed Santa Catarina, becoming the primary Brazilian PB/MDP exporting state with exports valued at USD 33.37 million, surpassing Santa Catarina’s exports of USD 25.88 million. Sao Paulo followed with a growth of 18.9%, increasing from USD 13.20 million in 2022 to USD 15.69 million in 2023.
