Peruvian Particleboard imports down 4.6% in first four months 2016

PERU – Particleboard imports in Peru totaled USD 43.7 million in the first four months of the year, a decrease of 4.6% compared to the same period 2015.

novopan 201605 Novopan Peru continued as the main importer reaching USD 9.5 million in the period although falling 8.3% compared to the same period 2015 (USD 10.3 million). Arauco Peru, the second largest particleboard importer in the country improved its share of total imports by 3 percentage points with USD 5.6 million in the first four months 2016. (2015: USD 5.2 million), Arauco had the highest growth among main importers (9.4%). Masisa Peru, along with Arauco, was the only other importer that was able to increase its purchases (+4.4%) with USD 3.3 million in the January – April period (2015: USD 3.2 million).

Interforest’s particleboard imports had the sharpest drop in the period (-52,6%) from USD 1,328,343 in 2015 to USD 629,717 in 2016, a decrease of 2.6 percentage points in share of total imports. Grupo Martin’s imports also decreased considerably (-33.7%), falling from USD 4.4 million in 2015 to USD 2.9 million this year.
