Brazilian Furniture Exports to Latam Down 6.4% in 5M-2023

BRAZIL – The value of Brazilian wood furniture exports to the Latin American region reached USD 73.78 million in the first five months of 2023 (5M-2023).

1041BRASIL This represented a 6.4 percent drop compared to 5M-2022 (USD 78.81 million).

Despite a sharp decrease of 35.7 percent, Chile remained the top destination country for Brazilian wooden furniture in 5M-2023 with USD 16.76 million. That compares to USD 26.07 million in 5M-2022.

Uruguay overtook Peru and was the second most important regional market with USD 15.03 million in 5M-2023. This represented an improvement of 28.1 percent compared to 5M-2022 (USD 11.73 million).

Peru was the region’s third largest market for Brazilian wood furniture with USD 11.82 million in 5M-2023, compared to USD 14.72 million in the same period of the previous year, representing a 19.6 percent drop.

Ecuador was the Latin American market with the highest growth (101.9 percent), for Brazilian wood furniture exports in the period, going from USD 1.86 million in 5M-2022 to USD 3.76 million in 5M-2023.

Rio Grande Do Sul and Parana were the two main Brazilian states exporting wood furniture to the region in 5M-2023, with USD 37.39 million (5M-2022: USD 42.80 million) and USD 20.29 million (5M-2022: USD 19.15 million). This represented a drop of 12.6 percent and a 5.9 percent improvement, respectively.
