Arauco Concludes the First Pulp Production of the MAPA Project

CHILE – Underway since 2018, the investment in the project was USD 2.35 billion and should increase production capacity by an additional 1.56 million tons per year.

1018ARAUCO The plant will reach a total production capacity of approximately 2,1 million tons of pulp per year.

Arauco announced that the first pulp production had been completed on line 3 of the Mapa project, in Chile’s Biobío region. This is a new advance in the start-up process that began on December 29, consolidating the operation of this modern industrial facility.

“We congratulate and thank all those who have been part of this important process, which represents a milestone in the productive and sustainable history of the Arauco Province,” the company said.

“Happy to be part of this great Arauco team and this great achievement in which many of us contributed,” said Mauricio Leiva, Arauco’s Public Affairs Manager. “I thank the community of the municipality of Arauco, that many of them participated in the construction or generation of ventures around the project. We are sure that the benefits have outweighed any inconvenience generated,” he concluded.
