ECUADOR - With a strong growth of 21.5% compared to the previous year, Ecuadorian exports of particleboard (PB / MDP) in 2018 exceeded USD 118.5 million.

Its main market was Colombia, with shipments of more than USD 70 million in the year and growth above 23 percent against 2017. The main responsible for this performance was manufacturer Novopan del Ecuador

With exports of PB / MDP for USD 116.6 million and a growth of 23.2 percent compared to the previous year, Novopan supplied 98.4 percent of the total particleboard exported by Ecuador.

Peru was the second market in importance for Ecuadorian PB / MDP. With purchases of USD 41.7 million and a growth of 22.3 percent in 2017, Peru, together with Colombia, represents about 94 percent of the Ecuadorian exports of particleboard in 2018.

While in Colombia there is local production of particleboard by Duratex Colombia (former Tablemac) and Primadera, in Peru domestic production is non-existent since the closure of Tableros Peruanos (Tapesa) in early 2017.
