BELGIUM – In October 2024, Unilin and Dieffenbacher announced a partnership to commercialize Unilin’s innovative “Osiris” wood fiberboard recycling technology.

As part of the agreement, Dieffenbacher has become the preferred global supplier of Osiris machinery for fiberboard production.
The next step in their collaboration is the supply of an industrial-scale “Osiris 2.0” recycling plant. This follows Unilin’s “Osiris 1.0” pilot installation at its MDF plant in Bazeilles, France. The new plant will significantly increase Unilin’s recycling capacity from 1 to 10 tonnes per hour and will process post-consumer MDF material.
“Dieffenbacher is the only supplier with the capacity to handle large-scale recycling and process post-consumer fiberboard material, including from bulky waste,” says Jan Gallet, General Manager MDF at Unilin. Jean-Christophe Zimmermann, Head of Sales at Dieffenbacher, adds, “This partnership marks a major step in showcasing the potential of our fiberboard recycling technology.”
Dieffenbacher’s supply includes a full range of systems, such as fiber transport, glue preparation, emission control, and a steam explosion vessel optimized for fiberboard recycling. The company will also manage steel construction, transport systems, and plant automation.
“The ‘Osiris 2.0’ system is truly one-of-a-kind, and we are excited to bring it to life with Dieffenbacher,” says Gallet. The plant is set to begin operations in fall 2025.
