ITALY – For the second year in a row, Saviola Group, one of Italy’s leading manufacturers of wood-based panels, has won the prestigious German Design Award.

Its innovative Mood finish on Ecological Panel claimed the top spot in the “Excellent Product Design – Material and Surfaces” category.
The award, presented by the German Design Council, recognizes the most impactful design trends worldwide. Mood, developed by Saviola’s Research & Development Center, features a unique texture inspired by Mondrian’s art, with intersecting parallel lines that create a dynamic effect of gloss and matte finishes.
The jury praised Mood for its combination of aesthetic appeal and environmental responsibility, highlighting its use of 100% recycled wood. The finish not only offers a modern look but also aligns with circular economy principles, making it both an ecological and design innovation.
“We are thrilled to receive this recognition again,” said Alessandro Saviola, Chairman of Saviola Group. “It’s a testament to our continuous efforts to bring high-quality, original products to the global market.”
This award underscores Saviola’s commitment to excellence, sustainability, and cutting-edge design.
Saviola is the world’s leading post-consumption wood processor, specializing in recycling and upcycling waste materials. Their eco-friendly approach avoids tree cutting, promoting sustainability through the repurposing of waste.
