ECUADOR – In line with its commitment to sustainable forest management in its operations, Novopan Del Ecuador has achieved FSC Forest Management certification.
This milestone demonstrates that the company’s products originate from well-managed forests, controlled sources, and/or reclaimed materials. With this, Novopan joins the select group of companies certified with this label and becomes the only company with certification in reclaimed material chain of custody.
Cristian Durán, Novopan’s Forest Manager, explains that obtaining the certificate involved rigorous audit processes over a 2-year period. “We met all the required parameters, so our stakeholders can be assured that 100% of the wood and by-products we receive have undergone rigorous sustainable management,” he confirms.
Since the forest team at Novopan is directly involved in this area, the company organized a briefing for them to ensure systematic documentation and evidence, with the support of expert advisors from Peru, Costa Rica, and Chile, who have extensive experience in FSC®.
The FSC Forest Management certification complements other significant certifications, such as the Ecuadorian Environmental Certification – Punto Verde, the Quality Management System based on ISO 9001:2015, the Environmental Management System based on ISO 14001:2015, and the Security Control Management System certified by BASC, among others.
Thus, Novopan solidifies its status as a responsible company towards its entire environment, from communities and neighbors to the environment, demonstrating its commitment to the country’s sustainable development.
