CHILE – Chile’s exports of particleboard (MDP) showed a modest increase, with total exports rising by 3.4% year-on-year, from USD 90.27 million in 2023 to USD 93.36 million in 2024, according to data from January to October (10M-2024).
The growth was primarily driven by strong demand from several key markets, with Mexico remaining the largest destination. Exports to Mexico rose by 7.1%, reaching USD 35.39 million. Colombia saw a notable surge of 40.5%, from USD 12.90 million to USD 18.12 million. This represents the strongest growth among the major markets.
However, some markets showed declines. Exports to Peru dropped sharply by 31.0%, from USD 18.45 million to USD 12.72 million. Exports to Ecuador and Costa Rica also fell by 15.5% and 20.7%, respectively. Exports to Guatemala remained stable with a slight increase of 0.8%.
Exports to other countries , saw a significant 62.4% growth, reflecting broader regional expansion.
Among the exporters, Arauco maintained its dominance, accounting for the bulk of Chile’s particleboard exports. However, Arauco’s exports dipped slightly by 0.3%, from USD 69.02 million in 2023 to USD 68.81 million in 2024. In contrast, Masisa showed stronger performance, with exports rising by 15.5%, from USD 21.25 million to USD 24.54 million.
Overall, Chile’s particleboard export market showed a mix of growth and decline across regions, with notable gains in some countries balancing out the challenges in others.
