CHILE (Notifix).- Masisa announced an investment plan of US$ 600 million as an important part of the strategic plan for 2015, which will strengthen its core business of MDF and MDP panels and growth in high potential countries like Mexico, Brazil and Chile.
Projects were already initiated in 2012 to increase their melamine laminating capacity. Ongoing are a 7 x 8 feet format melamine line and a painting line at the plant in Cabrero, Chile, which will be operational in the second half of 2013. These lines incorporate an additional capacity of melamine boards equivalent to 120,000 m³ a year and 36,000 m³ of thin painted boards a year. The creation of a new of melamine line at plant Ponta Grossa, Brazil is also in process, with an installed capacity of 140,000 m3/year.
The investment plan to 2015 will be funded with the ongoing capital increase of USD 100 million, equity generated by the Company and divestment of some non-core forest assets in Brazil and southern Chile.
