COLOMBIA – Madecentro, currently the largest Colombian company by sales in the wood and furniture industry, continues its solid growth path. At year-end 2015, the company owned network of specialty stores for woodworking and the furniture industry, reached sales of 351,000 million pesos, 20% growth against sales of COP 280,200 million registered in 2014.
Madecentro’s strategic expansion reaches a milestone today with the opening of its 100 th store in the country. The new store of about 900 m2, is located in Bogota’s Ricaurte neighborhood and will be officially inaugurated this week. Together, the 100 stores of the network represent a total sales floor area of 60,000m2.
For the logistics support of the Madecentro network, the company has more than 38,000 m2 of additional area, represented in distribution centers, CEDIS, and the administrative center of Medellin.
In foreign markets the company has also maintained steady growth. Currently Madecentro exports – mainly hardware – to 11 countries in the region. To support this side of the business, the Company has specialized its CEDI located in Yumbo, Valle del Cauca.
Looking to the immediate future, Dimas Tobon, Madecentro’s General Manager said, “We are optimistic about 2016, we forecast growth of around 14 or 15% s.s.s. (same store sales) although we recognize that growth will be a little more complex this year.”
