MEXICO – On March 19 the new Masisa MDF plant located in Durango, Mexico produced its first board.
With this milestone, Masisa completes the first phase of this USD 132 million investment. The project includes the 220,000 m³ capacity MDF plant, a melamine lamination line with annual capacity of 110,000 m³ and the expansion of its resins plant.
“The production of the first MDF board in Masisa Mexico represents a major milestone,” said Roberto Salas, president of Masisa, adding that this will allow them to “consolidate its position in this market and continue to grow as a major player in Latin America.”
This investment strengthens the position of Masisa in Mexico, which entered the market in 2013 with the acquisition of Rexcel’s assets and thus added to Group an annual production capacity of 600,000 m3 of particleboard.
