COLOMBIA – Among a sample of ten international panel manufacturers, Tablemac, a Colombian particleboard and MDF manufacturer and affiliate of Brazilian panel manufacturer Duratex, posted the best performance numbers in 2015.
Compared to 2014, Tablemac posted outstanding results in terms of sales (+30.2%) and EBITDA growth (+66.0%), and EBITDA margin improvement (+5.7 percentage points).
In sales growth Tablemac was followed by Brazilian Eucatex and German based Pfleiderer with improvements of 2.6% each. Chilean Masisa had the highest drop in sales in 2015 (-31.8%) followed by Canadian Norbord (-5.7%) and Chilean Arauco (-3.7%).
In 2015 Portuguese board manufacturer Sonae placed second in terms of EBITDA growth (+11.5%), above Pfleiderer (10.5%), Norbord (6.1%), Egger (2.0%) and Chilean Arauco (0.8%). Masisa (-40.5%) and Duratex (-25.8%) had the biggest drops in EBITDA compared to 2014.
As per EBITDA margin after Tablemac’s impressive 5.7 percentage point improvement in 2015 compared to 2014, Arauco was second with an improvement of 1.1 percentage points. Duratex had the largest drop in EBITDA margin (-7.8 p.p.) followed by Masisa (-2.8 p.p.).
