CMPC integrates its forestry and pulp units

CHILE – On December 3rd Empresas CMPC announced the decision of its Board to carry out a reorganization of its forestry and pulp businesses.

This decision aims to achieve better operational efficiencies and will be implemented through the creation of a business unit that will integrate the forestry and pulp areas. CMPC explained that this decision seeks to “promote an integrated view of the forest and industrial resources of these operations and achieve greater alignment with company strategy.”

The new organizational structure will be implemented from 1 January 2016. With it Empresas CMPC will divided its operations into three business areas: Pulp / Forest, Paper and Tissue.

Empresas CMPC, founded in 1920 in Chile, produces forestry, pulp, paper, tissue and packaging products throughout Latin America. Its timber and production facilities are strategically located in countries including Chile, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Uruguay and Ecuador, hiring more than 17 thousand direct employees.

In 3Q 2015 sales from the Forestry activities represented 11% of total third party sales and contributed with 18% of the Company’s 3Q 2015 EBITDA.
