Proteak Sales Down 37% in 4Q-2023

MEXICO – Proteak, Mexico’s largest forestry company, reported its results for the 4th quarter of 2023 (4Q-2023).

1073MEXICOThe sales of the MDF and Teak businesses reached MXN 276 million in the 4Q-2023, 37% below the results of the 4Q-2022 and 18% lower than the 3Q-2023, excluding other income and revaluation of plantations.

During the  4Q-2023, the sales volume of Tecnotabla (MDF) was 40,188 m3, -21% compared to the 4Q-2022, with a value-added product share of 27%. The sales revenue of MDF reached MXN 270 million, -38% compared to 4Q-2022, mainly due to supply limitations due to unavailability of transportation.

In the 4Q-2023, sales in the export market (USA) represented 2% of the total. The MDF domestic market  grew 6% compared to 2022. Imports recovered pre-pandemic levels, especially those coming from Brazil.
