Arauco sales drop 8.5% in 4Q-2022
CHILE – Arauco, one of the largest global wooden panel manufacturers, reported sales revenues of USD 1,594.0 million in the 4Q-2022, a decrease of 8.5% when compared to the 4Q-2021 .
Ecuadorian Particleboard Exports fall 29.3% in January
ECUADOR – Ecuadorian exports of Particleboard / MDP reached USD 13.7 million in January 2023, a fall of 29.3% compared to the same month of the previous year (USD 19.3 million).
Brazilian Wood Panel Consumption down 15.2%.
BRAZIL – As reported by IBA (Brazilian Tree Industry), in 2022 the consumption of wood-based panels (Chipboard/MDP, MDF and Hardboard) in Brazil reached 6.99 million m3, a significant drop of 15.2 percent compared to the 8.25 million m3 reached in 2021.

USA – HNI Corporation and Kimball International, Inc. announced that they have entered into a definitive agreement under which HNI will acquire all the outstanding shares of Kimball International in a cash and stock transaction valued at approximately USD 485 million.

Brazilian Wooden Panel Consumption Grows 22.3% in 9M-2021
BRAZIL – As reported by IBA (Brazilian Tree Industry), in the first nine months of 2021 (9M-2021) the consumption of wood-based panels (Chipboard/MDP, MDF and Hardboard) in Brazil reached 6.18 million m3, an increase of 23.0 percent compared to the 5.02 million m3 reached in 9M-2020.
German furniture exports up 17 percent in 9M-2021
GERMANY – In the first nine months of 2021 (9M-2021), German furniture exports had grown by 17 percent to 6.2 billion euros, figures from the Federal Statistical Office show.

Sharp drop in sales of leading Ecuadorian companies in 2020
ECUADOR – According to the annual ranking of the Top 1000 Ecuadorian companies by sales published by Ekos magazine, the seven companies in the wood and furniture segment that made it into the ranking saw their sales fall by 10.7 percent in 2020, reaching USD 345.4 million compared to USD 386.6 million in 2019.

BRAZIL – The Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (CEBDS) presented the Ministry of Economy a document titled ‘Entrepreneurs for the Climate’ which was signed by over 100 private sector entities in which they defend a low carbon economy and take responsibility for implementing change.
