U.S. – On Wednesday, February 8th America’s largest Ikea store opened its doors in Burbank, California. 

This new 456,000-square-foot store was conceived to replace the first store opened by the Swedish retail chain in California in 1990. There are currently more than 390 Ikea stores in 48 countries, including 43 in the U.S.

The 456,000-square-foot new Ikea Burbank store, including 1,700 parking spaces, was built on 22 acres and less than one mile from the company’s oldest store in the Western United States that it is replacing.

Almost doubling its size, the new Ikea Burbank will feature nearly 10,000 exclusively designed items, 50 inspirational room-settings, three model home interiors, a supervised children’s play area, and a larger (600-seat) restaurant serving Swedish specialties. The new store employs around 575 associates.
