BELGIUM –  Unilin Technologies, the intellectual property arm of Unilin, has been awarded European patent EP 4114629 for Osiris, its innovative recycling technology that recovers wood fibers from waste fiberboards (MDF).

The technology represents a breakthrough in circular wood fiber usage and strengthens the company’s commitment to sustainable production.

Osiris is the first industrialized solution capable of recycling fiberboards on a large scale. Traditionally, the composite structure of fiberboards made them difficult to recycle, often ending up in landfills or incinerators. Osiris changes this by enabling the separation and reuse of wood fibers, which can then be blended with virgin material to create new boards.

The process not only supports environmental goals but also brings cost advantages by reducing the dependence on virgin wood, helping manufacturers cut material costs and improve resource efficiency.

Unilin offers Osiris for licensing in partnership with Dieffenbacher, which supplies the required machinery and system integration. The technology will be featured at Interzum (Cologne, Hall 1.2 Booth A010) by Unilin Panels and at Ligna (Hannover, Hall 26 Booth C41) by Dieffenbacher.

Unilin Technologies is known for pioneering innovations in the flooring industry, including its globally adopted click systems Uniclic, Unidrop, and Unipush. With Osiris, the company reinforces its leadership in sustainable and economically viable technology solutions for laminate and fiberboard production.
