COLOMBIA – The year 2013 ends with a new store for the leading company of the wood and furniture industry in Colombia, Madecentro. On December 11, the retail chain of products and services for carpenters and furniture manufacturers, inaugurated a new store in Medellín, Antioquia under the Districondor banner.

Thus Madecentro ends 2013 with 86 outlets in the country, 65 of them under the Madecentro bannerand the remaining stores, all located in the department of Antioquia, under the Districondor banner.

With estimated sales for 2013 of COP 290,000 million (USD 150 million) and an estimated 17% growth for 2014, Madecentro is currently the largest company by sales in the Colombian wood and furniture industry. Its leadership was consolidated in the fourth quarter of this year with the merger of the Madecentro SA and Districondor SA networks, which will continue to expand in 2014 with the announcement by the company’s General Manager, Dimas Tobon, of six new stores openings and the remodeling of four existing ones.

Regarding the merger of the two companies, Dimas Tobon said “It was a swift process, better than expected, they were complementary companies.” It is noted that although the Districondor network is smaller, it added a line of wood processing machinery (Putsch Menicomi, Cehisa, among others), previously not part of the Madecentro portfolio.
