GERMANY –  Following its 2023 acquisition of Italian automation specialist Carmet, the IMA Schelling Group has announced a new step in its expansion strategy: the acquisition of shares in Sirio srl, based in Treviso. The move reinforces the group’s long-term commitment to the Italian market.

The agreement provides for a gradual takeover, beginning with a minority stake and leading to full integration by 2028. According to IMA Schelling Managing Director Maximilian Lehner, “Sirio has established itself over the past decades as a specialist in automation solutions for mechanical and plant engineering. IMA Schelling and Sirio have a long history together. On this basis, we want to ensure a stable transition that opens future prospects for both companies.”

The integration of Sirio will focus primarily on batch size one systems, a key strategic segment for the group. Together with Carmet and the service subsidiary IMA Schelling Italia, Sirio will form a triad designed to significantly strengthen the company’s market position in southern Europe.

The initiative is part of a broader strategy centered on investment in high-potential markets, stronger regional roots and expanded partnerships. By 2030, IMA Schelling aims to further consolidate its position while unlocking new growth opportunities.

“Despite the challenging market environment, we want to drive change,” Lehner emphasized. “With our investment in Sirio, we are enhancing structures, service and project expertise directly on site. Customers in Italy will benefit from shorter distances and improved support.”
