Haworth to use 100% certified wood for its products

U.S. –  Haworth, Inc., a global leader in the design and manufacture of furniture, mostly workplace solutions and systems, has announced that by the end of 2015 its goal is to source 100% of the wood used in its production from sustainably managed forests.

“As we continue our sustainability journey, we are committed to reducing the impact our manufacture and design process has on the environment,” said Steve Kooy, Haworth’s global sustainability manager. “One example of this is ensuring that all of our wood is sourced from sustainably managed forests.”

To verify the source of its wood materials, Haworth seeks third-party certifications from nonprofit organizations like the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). The company will seek certifications from all wood product suppliers, from board panels to the smallest wooden dowels required for product assembly.
