Colombian machinery imports fall 46.9% in 6M-2022

COLOMBIA – Colombian imports of European machinery for secondary wood processing (boards) reached USD 2.57 million in the first six months of 2022 (6M-2022).

999COLOMBIA2 Which was a sharp drop of 46.9 percent compared to the same period of 2021 (USD 4.84 million).

The main supplier of European wood processing technology to the Colombian market in 6M-2022 was Germany’s Homag Group with USD 1.02 million, a sharp drop of 50.1 percent compared to 6M-2021 (USD 2.06 million). In 6M-2022 Homag Group’s share of total imports was 40 percent, down from 42.6 percent in 6M-2022.

Italy’s SCM Group , was the second supplier to the Colombian market and the only one among the main suppliers to grow in 6M-2022 with USD 591 thousand, which represented a 49 percent improvement compared to 6M-2021.

They were followed by Putsch Meniconi and Italy’s Biesse Group as the main European suppliers of wood processing machinery for the Colombian market with USD 129 thousand and 114 thousand respectively.

The main importers of European wood processing machinery in 6M-2022 to the Colombian market were Madecentro, the main specialized distributor of  for the wood processing industry, and the machinery distributor Sierras y Equipos.
