ITALY – The Biesse Group sales for the first three months of 2016 reached  €117,6 million, up by 4.3% compared to the prior-year period (€112,8 million) and in line with expectations.

In the first quarter of 2016, EBITDA amounted to €9,7 million, down by €1,98 million (-17.1%) compared to the same period of 2015. This is mainly due to the increase in personnel expense, up by €5.2 million in the period, as a result of investments made in 2015.

In reference to the geographic distribution of sales in the first three months of 2016, significant increases were recorded in North America (+28.7%) and Western Europe (+12.3%) compared to the first quarter 2015. Western Europe continues to be the Biesse Group’s core market, accounting for 42.9% of revenue.

“We started the 2016 with a growing quarter, for revenues and orders intake, having the highest backlog in our history (Euro 163 million)”, stated the Biesse Group General Manager Biesse Dr. Stefano Porcellini.

This month Biesse will participate in the wood sector’s most important Italian trade fair (the 25th edition of XYLEXPO – Milan 24-28 May) where it will exhibit 20 machines on a dedicated 2,000 m2 stand. It will be underlined with particular emphasis the Industrial Revolution 4.0 concepts, even realizing the significant progress achieved in the design of integrated equipment (panels and solid wood) and developments in integrated software solutions (bSolid).
