PERU - In the first four months of 2022 the value of Peruvian imports of wooden furniture reached USD 23.59 million, an improvement of 12.0 percent compared to the same period in 2021 (USD 21.06 million).
Brazil was as usual the main supplier country in the period with USD 15.65 million, a figure that represented 66.3 percent of the total imported in the month by the Peruvian market. It was followed by China with USD 4.88 million and Colombia, which had the highest growth, with USD 1.05 million.
The main Peruvian importers of wooden furniture in the period were Homecenters Peruanos with its Promart banner, which reached USD 9.04 million, followed by Sodimac / Maestro, Falabella Group's home improvement chain, with USD 5.92 million.
Consolidated imports of the country's two main home improvement chains (Promart and Sodimac/Maestro) accounted for 63.4 percent of total wood furniture imports into Peru in the first four months of 2022, compared to 57.3 percent in the same period of 2021.
Promart currently operates 33 stores in Peru, of which 11 are in Lima. Sodimac / Maestro operates 29 stores in Lima and 55 nationwide.
