PERU - Peruvian imports of particleboard (PB / MDP) grew 78.2% in March 2022 and reached USD 52.09 million in 1Q-2022 (1Q-2021: USD 37.52 million). Taking 1Q-2022 growth to 38.8%.

This was a record export value for the first quarter of a year.

Grupo Yofasa stood out with the highest growth among the top five importing companies with USD 2.47 million.  This figure was lower than the USD 17.79 million imported by Novopan Peru, the country’s main importer.

Representaciones Martin was the second largest importer with PB / MDP imports of USD 12.48 million in 1Q-2022, an increase of 24.5% compared to the same period in 2021 (USD 10.03 million).

Arauco Peru's imports were the fastest growing among the top three importers by increasing 95.5%, reaching USD 5.12 million in the period (1Q-2021: USD 2.62 million), while Maderas America's imports grew 47.5%, reaching USD 4.46 million in the quarter (1Q-2021: USD 3.02million).

Ecuador, as expected, was once again the main supplying country of PB / MDP to the important Peruvian market in 1Q-2022 with shipments of USD 18.11 million, representing an increase of 24.5% (1Q-2021: USD 14.54 million).

Spain continued to consolidate its position as the second supplying country with USD 13.01 million, a 25.2% increase compared to the USD 16.55 million shipped to Peru in 1Q-2021.

Brazil, with a strong growth of 65.7%, was the third supplier country in 1Q-2022 with USD 11.38 million (1Q-2021: USD 6.87 million).

It was followed by Chile, which had the highest growth among the top four supplying countries, with USD 6.99 million (1Q-2021: USD 3.09 million).
