PERU - Peruvian imports of particleboard (PB / MDP) reached USD 145.19 million in January – October period 2021 (10M-2020: USD 92.01 million).
A record figure for the first ten months of the year and a strong year-on-year growth of 57.8 percent compared to same period 2020, and of 51.7 percent Compared to 10M-2019 (USD 95.74 million)
Inversiones Jocema, with an increase of 291.4 percent compared to 10M-2020, was the third largest importer of PB/MDP with USD 12.77 million. This was below the USD 55.03 million imported by Novopan Peru the main importer in the country. Still it was the highest increase among the 4 main PB / MDP importing companies in the country in 10M-2021.
Representaciones Martin was the second importing company with PB / MDP imports of USD 29.68 million in 10M-2021, a very strong increase of 80 percent compared to the same period in 2020 (10M-2020: USD 16.49 million).
Arauco Peru's imports were up 40.4 percent, reaching USD 12.77 million in 10M-2021 (10M-2020: USD 9.09 million) while Masisa Peru´s imports were down 18.8 percent reaching USD 6.30 million in the period (10M-2020: USD 7.70 million).
Ecuador was again the main PB / MDP supplier country to Peru in 10M-2021 with shipments of USD 55.85 million which represented a strong increase of 65.2 percent (10M-2020: USD 33.81 million).
Spain consolidated its position as the second largest supplier country with USD 28.53 million, an increase, 72.3 percent compared to the USD 16.55 million shipped to Peru in 10M-2020.
Brazil, with a 46.4 percent growth, was the third supplier country in 10M-2021 with USD 21.53 million (10M-2020: USD 14.70 million).
It was followed by Chile with USD 18.22 million (10M-2020: USD 19.43 million). The only one among the main supplier countries that did not increase its exports to the Peruvian market in 10M-2021.
