COLOMBIA - The USD 128 million acquisition of the Calima shopping center in Bogota by Mallplaza consolidates the arrival of IKEA in the country.

The Swedish chain dedicated to the manufacture and retail of furniture, and household objects and contemporary design décor, opened in 2023. Mallplaza's value proposition includes in addition to Homecenter, Cinépolis Cinema Complex and Successful Hypermarket, retail, gastronomy, entertaining and mixed use brands, incorporating digital and omnichannel solutions that experience business partners and visitors.

In this way, the company adds more than 66 thousand m2 of GLA, which allows it to reach 190 thousand m2 of leaseable area in Colombia. The acquisition of this commercial center is part of the strategic plan of the company that seeks to enhance its presence and positioning in Colombia. The investment amount is USD 128 million.

The Calima shopping center will be the fourth urban center in Colombia, joining Mallplaza Manizales, Mallplaza Cartagena and Mallplaza Buenavista, in Barranquilla.
