CHILE - Chilean Particleboard / MDP (PB/MDP) exports fell in the first half of 2020 (6M-2020), totaling USD 33.8 million, which represented a decrease of 6.9 percent when compared to the USD 86.6 million in 6M-2019.

The 6M-2020 exports were also below the figure reached in 6M-2018, when Chilean PB/MDP exports reached USD 38.1 million.

The drop in Chilean PB / MDP exports was mainly present in shipments to the Peruvian market, which went from USD 11.17 million in 6M-2019 to USD 7.05 million in 6M-2020, representing a sharp drop of 36.8 percent.

Chilean PB / MDP shipments to Mexico, its main foreign market in importance, totaled USD 13.0 million in 6M-2020. This figure represents a slight improvement of 0.2 percent compared to exports of USD 12.9 million in 6M-2019.

Colombia, the third external market for Chilean PB / MDP, reduced its purchases. Chilean particleboard shipments to Colombia reached USD 6.0 million in 6M-2020, a decrease of 3.3 percent compared to USD 6.2 million reached in 6M-2019.

Ecuador, the fourth external market for Chilean PB/MDP, also had a significant improvement of 9 percent, totaling USD 2.39 million in 6M-2020 (6M-2019: USD 2.19 million).
