PERU - In April 2020 Peruvian imports of wooden furniture reached USD 4.4 million, a solid improvement of 24.7 percent compared to the same month of 2019 (USD 3.6 million).
Brazil remained, by far, as the main supplier country in April-2020 with USD 3.5 million, a figure that represented 79.8 percent of the total imported in April-2020 by the Peruvian market. China (USD 208 thousand) and Spain (USD 140 thousand) followed.
The main Peruvian importers of wooden furniture in April-2020 were Homecenters Peruanos, under its Promart banner, that reached USD 1.9 million followed by Sodimac / Maestro, the Falabella Group’s home improvement banners, with USD 852 thousand.
Consolidated imports from the two main home improvement chains (Sodimac / Maestro and Promart) represented 61.7 percent of the total wooden furniture imported to Peru in April-2020, compared to 49.3 percent in the same month of 2019 .
Promart operates 31 stores in Peru, of which 11 are in Lima. Sodimac / Maestro operates 26 stores in Peru, 12 of them in Lima and 14 in provinces.
