COLOMBIA - In the first two months of 2020 (2M-2020) Colombian imports of Particleboard (PB) / MDP reached USD 20.0 million, this value is equivalent to a growth of 15.5 percent compared to the values recorded in the first two months 2019 (USD 17.3 million).
Madecentro, as usual, was the main importer, with more than 55 percent of the total value imported in 2M-2020. The store chain specialized in supplies for the furniture and carpentry industry imported PB / MDP for USD 11.1 million in 2M-2020. More than 1.6 million dollars more than they imported in the same period of the previous year (USD 9.4 million) for a strong year-on-year growth of 17.4 percent.
Second place on the list of importing companies went to furniture maker Maderkit, with particleboard imports in 2M-2020 for USD 2.1 million, a strong growth of 48.3 percent (2M-2019: USD 1.4 million).
As a supplier company, Novopan del Ecuador continues to be the leading supplier of particleboard / MDP to Colombia, with shipments to the neighboring country for USD 13.7 million in 2M-2020. This performance places Ecuador again as the main PB/MDP supplier country to Colombia in the first two months of 2020, followed by Chile through Arauco and Masisa; Brazil through Duratex and Berneck; and Spain through Tableros Hispanos.
