COLOMBIA – Madecentro, Colombia’s leading retail chain specializing in supplies for carpentry and the wood processing industry, reaches 150 stores in the country.
With the opening of Madecentro Ave. 30 in Medellin, the ninth opening so far in 2020, the leading company in the sector according to sales, does not let its guard down and continues to show its confidence in the country.
In 2019, the retail chain achieved sales of COP 546 billion, representing a 7% growth from 2018 sales. Asked about the revenues projection for the current year and the effect of Coronavirus on the development of the company’s business, its General Manager, Dimas Tobón Gómez, noted: “Of course there will be affectation!”, he said without compromising any figures, and added “In these moments the priority is with our people, they will be protected. That is why we must work with much more energy, much more than before, with optimism and strength.”
The commitment of this Colombian company is not a small endeavor. Today Madecentro employs 2,546 people throughout the country. “We will come out fortified, for now we don't see any risks for our company,” Tobón added. Thus, with this resilient attitude Madecentro remains firm in its investment plans, which consider a total of 20 new stores by the end of 2020 and the opening in the second half of the year of its modern distribution center, CEDI, in Palmaseca, next to the Arturo Bonilla Aragón International Airport in Valle del Cauca.
