USA – Wayfair Inc. recently announced the grand opening of its inaugural large-format Wayfair store on May 23, 2024, at 10 a.m. Spanning nearly 14,000 square meters, the Wayfair store is situated in Edens Plaza in Wilmette, Illinois.

Serving as a comprehensive destination for all home needs, it offers furniture, home decor, housewares, and home improvement products suitable for any style space or budget, along with an onsite restaurant. Wayfair, headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, with global operations, achieved USD 12.0 billion in sales revenue for the year ended December 31, 2023.

This superstore-sized location marks a departure for the online home furnishings giant, which has predominantly opened smaller-format stores for its specialty retail brands: Birch Lane, AllModern, and Joss & Main. According to CFO Kate Gulliver, testing the market through 1,000-square meter stores has provided a “lower cost, lower risk way” to venture into omnichannel retailing, as explained during investor events last month.

Wayfair is one of the largest online home goods retailers in the world, with more than 15,000 employees and over twenty million active customers.
