The Sodimac chain grows in Peru

PERU – On September 30th Sodimac Peru opened its store in San Juan de Lurigancho, Lima, thus completing 22 stores in the country and 139 in the region. The new store has a sales area of 7,000 m2.

The home improvement and construction materials retailer, will continue to expand in a market estimated at USD 4.000 million, with another opening before the end of the year at the Open Plaza Mall in Pucalpa. Like the latest inauguration, Sodimac Pucalpa will have a sales area of 7,000 m2.

On the other hand, Emilio van Oordt, general manager of Sodimac Peru, told reporters at the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the next store in Lima, located in the district of Villa El Salvador, that the company plans to continue the pace of openings during 2014, primarily seeking to enter intermediate cities. Sodimac Villa El Salvador is scheduled to start operations in February 2014. This store will have an area of 14,300 m2, will require an investment of USD 10 million and is to generate 200 direct jobs.
