Peru’s Particleboard Imports Up 37.7% in January

PERU – Peru’s imports of particleboard saw a significant rise in January 2025, increasing by 37.7% compared to the same month last year. The total value of imports reached USD 13.46 million, up from USD 9.78 million in January 2024.

The top country sources of these imports were Ecuador, Spain, and Brazil. Ecuador saw a 20.4% increase in exports to Peru, reaching USD 5.85 million. Spain also experienced strong growth, with imports rising 26.1% to USD 2.47 million. Brazil had the largest increase, with imports surging by 72.3%, totaling USD 2.26 million.

In contrast, Chile recorded a 15% drop in exports to Peru, with imports falling to USD 1.36 million. Meanwhile, imports from other countries surged dramatically, rising over 3,100% to USD 1.52 million, compared to just USD 47,084 in January 2024.

Among Peruvian importers, Novopan Peru maintained its position as the largest player, importing USD 5.61 million worth of particleboard, a 16.4% increase from last year. Maderas America saw the most remarkable growth, with a 437.1% surge to USD 2.84 million, up from USD 528,893 in January 2024.

On the other hand, Representaciones Martin experienced a 13.1% decline, with imports totaling USD 1.82 million, down from USD 2.09 million last year. Arauco Peru saw more moderate growth, with imports rising 11.4% to USD 1.36 million.

Other notable importers included Inversiones Jocema, which imported USD 510,130 in its first year, and Grupo Yofasa, which saw a 160.5% increase, reaching USD 361,893.
