PANAMA – From January to June 2025 (6M-2025), Panama imported USD 6.93 million in particleboard / MDP, a slight decline of 2.6% compared to the same period in 2024.
The drop reflects reduced shipments from Colombia (–44.5%) and Spain (–21.1%), despite strong growth from key partners.
Ecuador remained the leading supplier with USD 2.5 million, growing 10.4% year-on-year. Chile’s exports surged 25.3%, while Brazil and Spain posted modest declines. Other supplying countries, a group of minor exporters, grew a notable 37.1%.
On the importer side, Komex Internacional maintained its top spot with USD 2.48 million (+5.8%), followed by Formica Distribution Center (+8.1%) and Imeca Panama, which recorded a 23% increase. Empresas Melo, however, dropped 31%, and other importers fell 26.5%.
The main supplying companies during the period were Novopan del Ecuador, Dexco S.A. from Brazil, and Spain’s Tableros Hispanos.
Despite the overall dip, these shifts underscore the growing role of regional partners and evolving supply dynamics in Panama’s wood panel market.
