CHINA – Ingka Group, the largest Ikea retailer, has opened a new Ikea store and Livat meeting place in Shanghai’s Changning District, enhancing its presence in China.
This supports the company’s strategy to merge digital and physical shopping experiences.
The Ikea Shanghai Linkong store spans 21,620 square meters with over 9,500 products, including 4,700 available for same-day pickup. Amenities feature a 450-seat Swedish restaurant and a Swedish Food Market, part of Livat Shanghai, the largest of its kind in China.
Ikea Shanghai Linkong complements the Ikea Shanghai Xuhui, Beicai, and Baoshan locations. It’s conveniently located in the surrounding area of nearly 800,000 residents and 140,000 office workers.
Sara Del Fabbro, Deputy Retail Manager, emphasized China’s importance to Ikea’s growth as the company marks 26 years in the region. Following this opening, Ingka operates 39 Ikea stores and 10 Livat meeting places in China. Del Fabbro remarked, “China is strategic for Ikea, and we are committed to expanding here, contributing to the local economy and improving accessibility.”
With Ikea operations in 31 markets, Ingka Group represents about 90% of Ikea retail sales.
