USA – The Swedish Ikea Group will open its 50th store in the USA on April 10 in Norfolk, Virginia. The planned sales area at the new location amounts to 331,000 ft². In the state of Virginia, the company already operates a branch in Woodbridge.
IKEA Norfolk is also equipped with the largest solar rooftop array in the Hampton Roads area and electric vehicle (EV) charging stations. In addition to the more than 500 construction jobs that were created, approximately 250 co-workers will have joined the IKEA family when the new store opens.
There are currently 49 Ikea furniture stores in the U.S. The newest being the 289,000 square foot location in Live Oak, Texas, added on February 13. In addition, the group wants to open in the spring its first downtown store in the US.
The focus of what is known as the Planning Studio on Third Avenue in New York’s Manhattan district is to focus on furnishing solutions for urban living in a small space. The exact opening date has not yet been determined.
