UNITED KINGDOM – Ikea will open its highly anticipated Oxford Street store on May 1, 2025, following a three-year renovation of the Grade II-listed building at 214 Oxford Street in central London.
The new store will span three floors, covering 5,800 m² of retail space, and will offer a variety of features, including a Swedish deli, curated shopping areas, and a home planning hub with free one-to-one design consultations from Ikea experts.
The ground floor will feature a London-inspired shopping experience, showcasing home design inspirations and co-created shops reflecting the city’s unique style. Shoppers will then move down to the first lower ground floor, where room sets will demonstrate Ikea’s innovative furniture solutions. The second lower ground floor will house the market hall, offering 3,500 home accessories and small furniture pieces for immediate purchase.
For larger items, customers can order products from IKEA’s extensive 10,000-item range in-store for delivery or pick-up at various locations. The store will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The renovation included significant energy-efficient upgrades, such as installing air source heat pumps to replace gas-fired boilers, improved insulation with secondary glazing, and a restoration of the building’s façade. The renovation was managed by Ingka Investments.
