COLOMBIA – Ikea has opened a new store in Medellín, continuing its regional expansion plan in partnership with Falabella.
This new location, at the Viva Envigado shopping center, spans 18,000 square meters, with 12,200 square meters dedicated to sales.
Customers can enjoy a complete shopping experience across two floors, featuring two fully furnished apartments, 58 display areas, and 27 inspiration rooms, all showcasing Ikea’s design and functionality.
“We celebrate this new milestone in Ikea’s expansion plan, which reaffirms our commitment to Colombia and the region to reach more people with our offerings, known for providing affordable and sustainable design solutions. We trust that the people of Medellín will enjoy Ikea’s value proposition, allowing them to enhance their homes with functional design products that contribute to the quality of life for families,” stated Hasbleidy Castañeda, Country Manager of Ikea Colombia.
The store also includes a 1,511-square-meter restaurant offering Swedish dishes alongside local favorites like beans, buñuelos, and empanadas. With the opening, approximately 300 jobs will be created, and the location ensures easy access for over 90% of the local population. Additionally, Ikea’s online platform, Ikea.com.co, reaches over 290 municipalities, offering more than 6,000 products for a seamless omnichannel shopping experience.
Since its first store in Bogotá in September 2023, IKEA now has five locations in South America—three in Colombia and two in Chile—totaling 99,500 square meters constructed in the region.
