BELGIUM – Ikea is advancing its drone technology with AI-powered systems designed to work around the clock with employees.

After a successful trial at the Winterslag Distribution Centre in Belgium, Ikea plans to expand this system to more locations next year.

This updated system automates stock inventory, boosting efficiency and accuracy while freeing employees to focus on customer experience. Over 250 drones are already in use across 73 locations in nine countries, offering real-time data and reducing manual inventory tasks.

The expansion will enhance operational efficiency and employee well-being by minimizing the physical strain of inventory work. Ikea’s collaboration with Verity, initiated in 2021, has led to significant improvements in warehouse operations.

The integration of 24/7 operational drones helps streamline inventory management and improves job satisfaction by reducing repetitive manual tasks.
