UNITED KINGDOM – In just five days, Ikea received an overwhelming 3,730 job applications for its highly anticipated Oxford Street (London) store, setting a new record for the company.

With 150 positions available, the response marks the largest-ever recruitment effort for Ikea in the UK.

The roles, designed to be multi-skilled and dynamic, will offer applicants the chance to work in Ikea’s most innovative store yet, combining traditional retail with digital solutions and sustainable practices.

Matt GouldMarket, Manager for Ikea London City, expressed excitement over the response: “This extraordinary interest shows the appeal of joining the Ikea family, and we look forward to building a diverse team to shape the future of urban retail in London.”

The application process has now closed, and Ikea will proceed to the assessment phase. As a values-driven company, Ikea is seeking candidates who are creative problem-solvers, aligned with its culture of entrepreneurship and togetherness.

The Oxford Street store will offer 6,000 products, including a Showroom, Market Hall, Swedish Deli, and free planning services for kitchens, wardrobes, and bathrooms. The store aims to provide a unique shopping experience tailored to the needs of Londoners.

Ikea UK marked a significant milestone since opening its first store in Warrington in 1987. Over the past 38 years, the company has expanded its presence to 21 locations across the UK, employing nearly 12,000 co-workers.
