Colombian Particleboard Imports Up 25,5% in 2024

COLOMBIA – Colombia’s imports of particleboard /  MDP saw a notable increase in 2024, rising by 25,5% compared to the previous year, reaching a total of USD 172.19 million. This surge highlights the demand for wood-based products in the country, driven by several key players in the industry.

The largest importer, Madecentro, reported USD 90.5 million in imports, reflecting a comparatively modest 1,2% growth. Dexco (Duratex) posted a significant rise of 149,4%, reaching USD 24 million, up from USD 9.6 million in 2023. Maderkit also saw growth, importing USD 13.7 million worth of particleboard, a 10,5% increase. Other importers like Industrias Dofi and Sodimac Colombia experienced sharp rises of 134,1% and 70,2%, respectively.

Imports of particleboard to Colombia were largely sourced from Ecuador, which supplied USD 106.7 million, a slight increase of 2,6%. However, other countries experienced important growth, including Brazil, which saw a 147,8% increase, reaching USD 27.7 million. Chile and Spain also posted strong performances, with growth rates of 46,0% and 111,0%, respectively.

The top suppliers in the market were Novopan Del Ecuador, which led with USD 106.7 million, reflecting a 2,6% increase. Dexco SA (Brazil) followed with USD 24 million, marking a sharp rise of 149,4%. Other significant suppliers included Maderas Arauco SA (Chile), which grew by 38,1%, and Masisa SA (Chile), with a 57,1% increase.
