COLOMBIA – In the first quarter of 2025 (1Q-2025), Colombia’s particleboard imports fell sharply by 23.3% compared to the same period in 2024.
The total value imported from January to March reached approximately USD 30.7 million, down from USD 40 million the previous year.
Ecuador remained the leading supplier country, with shipments totaling over USD 20.2 million, despite a 23.9% year-on-year drop. Other key players showed contrasting trends: Chile increased its exports to Colombia by 32.4%, and Spain rose by 35%, while Brazil saw a steep decline of 68.8%—indicating shifting trade patterns.
Looking at individual suppliers, Novopan del Ecuador remained dominant, although it also posted a notable decrease. Maderas Arauco saw a 7% increase, while Masisa recorded a significant 206% surge in exports. Conversely, Dexco’s exports to Colombia plunged by 77.7%.
On the importer side, Madecentro continued to lead with USD 18.1 million in purchases, despite a 19.2% reduction. Sodimac Colombia increased its imports by 20.7%, and Muebles El Paisa de Tuluá nearly tripled its imports (+167%). Others, like Tolua Maderas y Herrajes (+23%) and Industrias Dofi (+13.5%), also posted increases.
