GERMANY - Hettich, a global leader in furniture hardware, is expanding its production space for drawer runners and drawers at its headquarters in Kirchlengern/Bünde in Eastern Westphalia. The Hettich Group is investing over € 30 million in an additional 23,500 square metres of floor area in a multifunctional production hall.
The company began work on the new "C3" building in late 2021. The official start of construction has now taken place in a ceremony to lay the founding stone.
According to plan, the first products are expected to roll off the production line in the new building in the first quarter of 2023. Logistically speaking, it will be linked to the neighbouring "C2" logistics operation. Just under 2,900 people are currently employed in Kirchlengern/Bünde. Expanding capacities, Hettich is securing jobs and opening up opportunities for creating new ones while paving the way for the company's future. "A new multifunctional production hall will make it possible for us to meet increased capacity demands over the next few years for various drawer systems with state of the art production equipment, at the same time offering our colleagues an attractive working environment", explains Michael Lehmkuhl, Hettich Managing Director in Kirchlengern.
Constructing a new building is a visible step towards long term and sustainable business at Hettich. For Hettich, this also means building on a sustainable footing. "The production hall will significantly exceed the requirements set out in Germany's energy-saving legislation and make a contribution to taking responsibility in the construction of industrial buildings. Besides partially greened frontages and roofs, we will also be installing a photovoltaic system, for example", Lehmkuhl concludes.
