GERMANY - Häfele is expanding its competencies for the smart networking of furniture and rooms and is taking over the innovation company ThingOS retrospectively as of January 1st, 2022. The international Häfele Group for hardware technology, electronic locking systems and light in furniture and rooms has been working successfully and intensively with the Stuttgart startup ThingOS since 2017.
With the takeover, Häfele brings the technological competence and know-how in-house to enable its customers from trade, property and industry to have a holistic, networked design of rooms that is future-proof.
Häfele company director Sibylle Thierer sees this step as the logical continuation of the strategy of establishing oneself on the market for innovative lighting solutions as a trendsetter in the industry. "Häfele recognized the importance of networked solutions years ago and developed from the traditional area of furniture lighting to a holistic lighting provider," comments the company manager. With the takeover of the architectural brand Nimbus in 2019, Häfele completed its lighting competence field. Room and furniture light can now be merged into a harmonious overall atmosphere that is centrally planned and controlled - right through to clever acoustic solutions and innovative concepts relating to smart networking. “Now we are going one step further and making digital connectivity a core competency".
In concrete terms, the Häfele divisions Nimbus (light & acoustics), ThingOS (connectivity) and Sphinx (electronic locking systems) should work together to offer holistic networking solutions. Third-party systems from various providers can also be integrated into new connectivity concepts and controlled via ThingOS.
