CHINA – The second printing plant in China, in Quzhou, started operations in May 2019, becoming the eighteenth factory of Schattdecor in the world. The new plant includes a productive unit and an administrative area totaling 25,000 m2 on a plot of 100,000 m2.
The production unit, with a sufficient area to house a total of ten narrow 4-foot and six wide 8-foot printing machines, already produced the first roll of printed paper in the middle of last May. The completion of the works in the annexed buildings is scheduled for this month of June. Initially the new factory was equipped with two printing machines. The installation of two other printers is already scheduled, and their operation will begin by the end of this year. This investment complements the company’s unit in Shanghai, which has been operating at full capacity for some time.
According to Roland Auer, CEO of Schattdecor AG, “We are currently reaching our capacity constraints in Shanghai, but there is simply no way to expand the site structurally. This means we needed to build a second production facility immediately. We are seeing strong demand for printed decor paper in Asia, so it was only logical to invest in another location. This allows us to expand our local capacities and offer a comprehensive range of products from the two printing facilities, along with impregnation in Huanggang and our Kingdecor joint paper venture in Quzhou. By opening this new location, we have created the ideal conditions to respond to the dynamic growth we are seeing in China and Asia.”
This new printing plant in China, the acquisitions of the Malaysian impregnation company, Vasatech, and of the American finish foil manufacturer, US Coating, have significantly expanded Schattdecor’s worldwide manufacturing footprint.
