USA – Timberlab Inc. , a subsidiary of Swinerton, has partnered with Swinerton Builders, Lindgren Development, Lever Architecture, and other stakeholders to build a 17,600 square meter cross-laminated timber (CLT) manufacturing facility in Millersburg, OR.

This site will become one of the largest CLT production facilities in the U.S.
The groundbreaking ceremony on February 27 was attended by Oregon Governor Tina Kotek, Senator Merkley’s office, state Representative Shelly Boshart Davis, Mayor Scott Cowan, and other officials, celebrating Oregon’s commitment to sustainable construction. Governor Kotek highlighted the facility’s role in advancing the mass timber industry and supporting the local economy.
The facility will use locally harvested timber to produce glue-laminated timber (GLT) and CLT, with support from a USDA Forest Service Wood Innovations Grant. Advanced processing equipment from Kallesoe will enable high-quality production.
Timberlab President Chris Evans emphasized the importance of this project in revitalizing Oregon’s rural economy, especially as local mills close. With mass timber expected to grow significantly, the new facility will produce 7 to 9 million square feet of CLT annually by 2026 and create 100 direct jobs.
Located in the Mass Timber Technology Hub of the Pacific Northwest, the facility will collaborate with local universities and research programs to drive innovation. Senator Jeff Merkley noted the project’s dual focus on economic growth and sustainability.
Swinerton and Timberlab have been leaders in mass timber construction, with Timberlab opening multiple facilities since 2020. This new facility is a key part of their ongoing expansion and commitment to sustainable building practices.
