PORTUGAL – Surteco, a global leader in surface technology, has announced the launch of Circular Edge, a new line of sustainable polypropylene (PP) edgebands designed to meet the growing demand for eco-friendly materials in the furniture industry.

Based on the widely used PP Standard, Circular Edge offers two new variants with significantly reduced carbon footprints:

• CIRCULAR 50: Made with over 50% Post-Industrial Recycled (PIR) material, this variant reduces the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) by 47%.
• CIRCULAR 100: Produced using bio-attributed PP, reducing the PCF by 143%, resulting in a negative carbon footprint.

Surteco employs a Cradle-to-Gate approach to measure the CO2 impact, accounting for direct emissions (Scope 1), indirect emissions from purchased energy (Scope 2), and emissions from raw material extraction and transportation (Scope 3). This aligns with the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), ensuring compliance with international standards and offering transparency in emissions data.
